I think it's a must to have a section dedicated to public aquariums in mondo.Monterey Bay Aquarium is one of the most beautiful and popular of the world. In Italy we have some, surely the most famous, rich and fascinating is the Aquarium of Genoa. But if you were in the U.S., perhaps on the west coast, you could slip aa few miles south of San Francisco (beautiful!) and pay a visit to Monterey, a small quiet coastal village, motivated mainly by his own public aquarium, the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
During my honeymoon we are clearly past "by accident" ... joke, loved it to my wife, despite everything. :-)
Worth a visit especially for the great vascona "final", very dark but very effective because of the huge fish in it and by the absence of any disturbing element. A tank simple, minimalist, but with a strong emotional impact.
And then the section JELLYFISH, dedicated to jellyfish. I do not think there is other in the world so rich and well made. For me it was truly an unforgettable experience, maybe because they are animals that are never seen in captivity and also from the truth is rather difficult and even dangerous to see a lot together. Interesting for those with children is the opportunity to participate in snorkeling with lots of mini-bottles and dry suit, the mini-bay within the aquarium. And 'the outside, is connected with the sea, but is accessible only to customers of' Monterey Aquarium.

The official website, however, this is beautiful and full of information on the species housed, but also on the activities in which the public aquarium is involved.
