An advice I give is often to read a good book on aquariums , complete and comprehensive to learn how an aquarium, how to choose, how to live worthily allestirlo the fish we have chosen to host or the environment that we have decided to play.
And clearly manuternerlo ... because the aquarium needs care, fish and plants need it, and we too, because if we have a "ladder" of things to do very clear, and we follow it, surely we will avoid to our aquarium many problems, which become annoyances, troubles, additional expenses for us "leads". :-)

I'm not talking nonsense, who has an aquarium knows that it can carve out his time and his space, one that is congenial for him not to stress one or more aquariums at home. Keeping an aquarium "average" is within reach of all, that is an aquarium that is not an unhealthy swamp where barely survive 2 " cleaner fish "algae eaters and a few emaciated little plant, but even a perfect aquarium where tens of Discus playing on lawns of Glossostigma.

But nobody has responded by saying that I bought this or that book ... even after my reporting of certain securities in particular the Italian ... nothing ... "average" obviously has problems reading ... many can not even read a couple of pages before falling asleep, I think, why not a book about a hobby, with many photos and illustrations, and drawings can get them interested ...
What strange for me because at home I have at least 3 books of aquariums and a hundred magazines ... I look about and habitually. (Remember that I also bought the magazines in Japanese ? :-) )

For these, but also for others who want to make a "ripassino" throw down some advice for the ongoing maintenance of a freshwater aquarium. Then think even a list of some changes to the marine aquarium , but the differences are minimal .. or better are all operations in more. :-)

Daily ( freshwater )

This is a list of activities that would best be done every day for the best maintain this an aquarium:

  • Turn on the lights ... you have a timer? rather, it will do for you! :-) Recommended time for the photoperiod (7-10 hours)
  • Check the water temperature (heater working properly?)
  • Check that the filter functions, so that the inlet is not clogged and that any water is smooth and free
  • Observe the fish for any signs of the disease ... the first one works with the care and the greater the chance of success and thus to avoid losses
  • You see dead fish? Better check in the morning ... you will avoid that remain little bodies rotting on your return to work / school
  • Food fish in the aquarium, better 2 times a day in small doses, rather than once. Please note that food is eaten all over ... all waste is a bit 'dirty water ... more

Weekly maintenance (freshwater)

  • rinse the mechanical filtration of the internal filter ... it is easy to access, then even that of the external filter. ;-)
  • Some plants, such as standing, broke away from the bottom (often because of some fish)? It 's time to ripiantarla.
  • Some plants are too high or is "going" on to another, making shadows or giving her trouble? It 's time to prune it, pruning and even replant somewhere else ... or give her a friend. :-)
  • Clean the glass with the right tools ... calm and avoid using the first piece or cloth or sponge to clean the windows that are outside the old newspapers are perfect ... slightly wet with purified water or demineralized water ... or at least of the tap.
  • Check the water parameters, especially in the first 3 months of life, or if there have been changes in flora or fauna in the previous week. Otherwise, the controls can also become thinner ... to become monthly
  • change some of the water ... NOT ALL! Typically it can be good to regularly change 10-20% water of an aquarium
  • top up evaporated water ... possibly with purified water, so as not to alter the chemical values

Monthly maintenance (freshwater)

  • thoroughly clean the outer filter, sponges and / or wool (razor clams NOT TOUCH, to limit a sciacquatina with the same water volume)
  • recheck the values of water

Anyone who wants to can participate in the creation of this TO DO LIST, comments are open (and not only for DANILO! ;-) )
